Sedation and Anesthesia
    
Dr. Gilio is thoroughly trained in the proper administration of anesthetic agents. He is knowledgeable in pain and anxiety control and possess extensive clinical experience in all anesthesia techniques including general anesthesia, intravenous (IV) sedation, and local anesthesia. 

Sedation Methods
    

topbul3a.gif (73 bytes) During dental and oral surgical procedures local anesthesia (Novocain) is administered to block sensations.
topbul3a.gif (73 bytes) Some patients experience a higher anxiety level and may require a sedative drug to help them relax. A sedated patient may remember the procedure, but will be more relaxed. 
topbul3a.gif (73 bytes) In some instances a patient may require an additional medication to act as anesthesia. This will help place the patient in a deeper sleep.

Conscious I.V. Sedation
When required we bring in a doctor certified in sedative medications given   intravenously (IV).  The effects are more profound through this means of administration and are more precisely controlled by the doctor.  With the use of an IV, if more medication is needed during the procedure, the IV allows for an easier administration of the additional medication.   Dr. Gilio certified by the Dental Board of California to administer IV conscious sedation.

Monitoring

      
Various monitors are used. The doctor along with at least one trained member of the staff will always be with you and closely observing you throughout your treatment.
