 Hygiene Examination

Your Hygiene Dental Examination is performed by a State of California certified Registered Dental Hygienists or by your dentist. Jill is not only a Registered Dental Hygienist, but is also certified in laser procedure techniques. Our hygienists attend continuing education seminars so they may continue to excel in their profession and provide their patients with the highest quality of care.

The areas examined include the mouth, teeth, bone and gums. We will also discuss your home care techniques and recommend certain products that will assist in your home care program.  A healthy mouth is paramount prior to smile enhancement procedures.

American Dental Association studies show that 85% of all American adults have some form of gum disease.  Gum disease can lead to bone disease.  No one is immune; children, teens or adults.  Any and everybody can get gum disease.  The only prevention is proper home care techniques, use the correct products and schedule regular dental examinations and cleanings.

X-Rays
topbul3a.gif (73 bytes) What a visual exam reveals is only about 20% of what is really happening in the areas of potential infection, bone loss, etc.  An x-ray provides a clear picture for a dentist to accurately diagnose and provide the necessary treatment.  We use the lowest dosage of radiation possible when taking our x-rays.  We use special low dosage digital x-ray equipment.  This is the safest method available within the limits of the dental profession.  The periodontal exam can be done with little or no discomfort.  This is where the use of current x-rays are so important.
